Last night after finishing Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Gathering Moss (2003) I immediately turned to the front and started over. I didn’t want the book to end and also wanted to understand it better than the first time through.

Since finishing Braiding Sweetgrass a few weeks ago, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Kimmerer’s take on listening to nature. That book was a terrific complement to Daniel Koch’s Land of the Oneidas which answered so many questions I’ve had about national and local history.
